Dog whimpering after teeth cleaning

Dog whimpering after teeth cleaning :

I had a dental exam recently, and the doctor gave me an order to take care of my dog's teeth. I just recently gave her some meds to get her through the process, and since then I've been giving her the drops with her food for a couple days now. The problem is that I haven't been giving her anything for 10 hours or so. A couple days ago she was playing with a ball and ended up swallowing it. I was pretty sure it was going down, and she was acting fine. I just gave her some kibble and she ate it as if nothing happened. I know that she's not feeling fine at all, and she's been drooling a lot. She's been wanting to get up and go to the bathroom but she won't go. All she does is lick and drool. I don't know what to do because I know she's not going to get better on her own, I just hope she's not in a lot of pain. Should I just wait it out?

My mom's dog had a tooth that had a chip and she found a toothbrush and toothpaste and cleaned it out and she never had a problem again. It was only for her dog so I don't know if it would be the same for your dog but at least it would be done.

My Mom used to do the same thing. You can do it a few times and it will be fine but you have to be careful that you don't get into her mouth or get the stuff in her eyes.

It might not be so bad as the thing may already be broken. Just give her some food and some water. That's it.

If it is bad, then you'll have to give her pain meds and she may or may not vomit because of the meds. You might have to give her fluids too.

Thank you for the tip! I'll probably try it again, this time I'll get some gauze and tape to put it in place so it can't hurt her anymore. I think the pain was so bad because she's been stressed since the beginning of the whole thing. So far the only time she got sick or vomited was from her seizure.

Thanks again!

That's so nice of you to do this! I hope she gets better.

You're welcome! She sure is a lovely girl.

Bless you for enduring my constant posts! I love you all! I hope you've all had an awesome day! Be safe and take care!

Thanks a lot for the well wishes. I tried giving her food and water the first time but she barely had any, she also looked like she might have been too upset to eat or something. I'm going to try again and maybe give her some other medicine that's more like Motrin and she should feel much better.

Also I tried to get one of my boyfriend's mom's to come and just stay with her in the next room while I'm not home and have her walk her around the house while I'm at work to hopefully stop her from climbing anything but it hasn't helped much.

Thanks again! I am super appreciative. I'm going to call my Mom tonight just to make sure she hasn't had a seizure, I hope she hasn't.

If I end up having one, then the one last night isn't her. The last one that I have to take her to the hospital. I don't want to lose her.

I'm a little on edge because we are going to have to do a spinal tap and I don't know how it'll turn out. We don't have insurance. I'm hoping it's not anything serious but if it is I don't want her to get sick from the needles. My Mom does it and she said it would hurt. It doesn't hurt for me but I still got to give her morphine and all kinds of medicine to make her feel better. We may have to take her to a hospi because I can't have her at home if it's not something that's curable. I don't want to have to be home with her either.

Thanks, if the seizure comes up, hopefully, the only way she'd have a seizure would be from another one. I'm scared. I've been to the doctor for this already so it could just be the fact that I'm so nervous about my Mom because I know she has a seizure disorder, that it could've been brought on from the stress.

Thanks again! I know she appreciates it, hopefully this works for us.

I'm sorry that your mom has a seizure disorder. I would also call your mom, your stepmom if she is the one who is caring for your mother at the moment. Just saying something simple like, "Mom, do you need any help?" or "Mom, have you had a seizure today?" could help the situation. If you are concerned about any side effects you could also simply ask her if the doctor or hospital gave her any needles. Don't worry about her being mad or feeling that you're invading her privacy. She wants to make sure that you are okay, so try your best to make yourself aware of her situation and what is going on.
