Buddyrider dog bicycle seat

I've done a little research on buddyrider (the company of the seat) and they seem to have the best seat on the market (I've heard). They have three sizes.

1. Standard - $59

2. Small - $69

3. XXL - $79

I've looked through their website, but it isn't a whole lot to go on. My questions are as follows:

1. How firm is this seat? Is it like your typical backpacking mattress? Or should it be used in place of sleeping on the ground (as a tent pad) or sleeping in a cabin?

2. Does this seat provide any sort of protection or anything to help stop the wind from creeping up your lower back?

3. The seat can be used as a backrest if you stand while riding (or while sitting at an offroad location). I would love to take this for a test drive and see if I'd like it. Does anyone have experience with this seat? Is it a great product?

I have one of these seats. It is pretty firm. With sleeping bag you really can't roll too much, but if you are sleeping outside (as I do) then I would definitely use a pad on the ground or on a tarp.

It definitely does a pretty good job of holding your rear end in place. I don't need the backrest, so I guess I don't really know how much of a benefit it gives you. I do have the small size, and I think I could have used a little more room on the bottom. I don't like having to keep adjusting it when I move (as is the case with any bike seat). It would be nice if there was some sort of locking feature, but the straps are pretty secure.

I've only had this for a few days and I've used it a few times already. I'm really happy with it so far. The only problem is the size, and the lack of a backrest. It's so long that I just lay in my sleeping bag directly on the seat. No problems there. However, it's too short for my back to lay back on, unless I'm laying on my stomach. Even if I'm lying on my stomach, I still have to prop up the foot pegs because otherwise they would keep rubbing my lower back.

Otherwise, it's awesome. I really like the idea of it, and for the price, it's a steal.

The only thing I can think of right now is that it's not as secure as a more expensive seat might be. I would not ride this seat with no sleeping bag, I'm just not sure what would happen if you bumped into something and your back side suddenly went up and your legs still were on the ground. If you had a regular seat, you might have the chance to put your foot in the chain and keep the seat upright. This seat doesn't have that safety feature.

I would definitely buy this seat again.

You get what you pay for.

By the way, I ride a 2009 Trek FX 9.9, and it's a lot more comfortable than this seat. Although it's heavier than the seat I have now, it's also bigger, and I've got a lot more room to move around on this seat.

Picked up a used seat on amazon a while back, it's more comfortable than the one you have but has the drawback of being so low i've aching back. Ended up returning it after a year, the weight is more of a concern than the comfort and ease of use. The seat pictured in this review is a great buy for the money, but a little pricey for what you get.

The thing is this seat has been used, is in good condition, but the plastic is cracked and it's not the best seat in the world. I'm sure if you got a good used seat it would be much more comfortable. So in the end you would be getting a "great" seat for $15 more. It's a cheap seat.

I actually paid $99, and it does have cracks on it. It's just not as comfortable, and I'll be returning it.

For $99 it's worth the try though. It's great for camping, and will work for hiking, it won't work in a tent, or if you want to go snowmobiling with no top. This is for the "sheltered" traveler.

I actually bought a used one for my daughter that I thought would be great for camping. Not! Not at all. No where near as comfortable as the new and cheaper seats. It's very hard and uncomfortable. Plus the price of the seat was just too much for something used. It's just like the new seats, same thing. So disappointing. It is not worth buying, that's for sure!

There is a reason why this product has a low review rating. It's just like the new ones. Very uncomfortable. For $99 there are better choices. Don't buy this seat, you will be disappointed. Plus, it's not even used. That should say something.

I love how the seat sits on my vehicle, makes things so much easier. It fits just right, unlike others on the market. They really need to make a few small changes, nothing is working for me, not even the adjustable option.

This seat is the most comfortable piece of seating I've ever been able to sit in. Not to mention it looks really nice and you can change the color with ease. I would recommend this for sure.

Hold down the back rest for 20 seconds to adjust the seat. You can do this by looking at your car's owner's manual and then follow the instructions on how to do it. However, if your manual is missing or not helpful, you can call customer service at 1-866-928-9484.

I am not able to adjust the seat to the height that I want. I am a very tall person (6'6", 260 lbs.) and don't want the seat too high on my vehicle because it makes it very uncomfortable for me to get in and out of the vehicle. Can the seat be lowered so that I
